Viral News About Internet Explorer Tombstone
Jung Ki-young is a software engineer based in Korea who has a passion for browsers. So, after the recent shutdown of Internet Explorer, Ki-young spends a month designing a tombstone for the browser.
After designing the stone with IE's original “e” logo and he wrote the following sentence: “He was a good tool to download other browsers“, the engineer spent 430,000 won ($330) to make the tombstone and it is now on display at his relatives' cafe located in Gyeongju, Korea.
The Korean engineer stated that he had worked hard to make his apps and websites look good in Internet Explorer. And since most Korean government organizations and banks still use Internet Explorer to surf the internet daily, his clients always ask him to develop websites and applications optimized for Explorer.
"It was a pain, but I would call it a love-hate relationship because Explorer itself once dominated an era" Ki-young said to the Publications Reuters. He also mentioned that with the tombstone, he wanted to entertain and make people laugh. However, he was very surprised, because of the amount of attention he got on the internet about making the tombstone.
He also added, "That's a reason for me to thank Explorer, who now allows me to make world-class jokes and I'm very sorry that it's gone, but I won't miss it because, for me, it was a good death".
After all, it is the most used web browser of all time, although most of us only use it to download Google Chrome or its alternatives, as Jung mentions on the tombstone.
